RICE VARIETY CH208

1. Origin

Authors: Nguyen Tan Hinh, Truong Van Kinh, Tran Nguyen Thap, Vu Thi Hang et al. –  Conventional Rice Research and Development Center – FCRI

– CH207 was bred from  Mố/C22//IR38803 – 1.

2. Major morphology and varietal characteristics

– Growth duration: 165-170 days in Spring, 120 -125 days in Summer season.

– Plant height: 120 – 125 cm, long and green leaves.

– Panicle length ; 27-29 cm, grain/panicle 155-180; long grain; W/L>3; 1000 grain weight 27-28 g.

– CH208 has low chalkiness, soft and sweet after cooking, amylose content 18-20%.

– Average yield 4.5-5.0 tons/ha in rainfed areas, it can tolerate drought in every growth stages.

– CH208 mild resists to BPH, blast and sheath blight.
