AGRONOMY DIVISION

Functions

The Division has the function of researching and applying achievements in ecology, meteorology, soil science, nutrition, plant protection, plant varieties and cultivation techniques to the field crops to release new crop products for production in the Northern provinces.

Tasks

1. Research ecosystems, cropping systems suitable for crop ecological subregions to improve production efficiency in the crop industry and cope with climate change;

2. Research and evaluate the ability to resist pests and diseases for plant breeding;

3. Research and apply achievements in meteorology, soil science, nutrient and water management and advanced farming techniques to the cultivation of field crops to create higher economic, social and environmental efficiencies.

4. Research and application of organic agriculture, urban agriculture;

5. Participating in international cooperation, training human resources and transferring of technical advances and providing services of science and technology in the related field.
