SWEET POTATO VC6

1. Origin

– VC6 was selected from a combination of VA1/CIP68, using primers ITSSR15 and IbE29 to identify high starch content trait.

– The variety was introduced into production according to the Document No. No. 330/VCLT-KH dated October 9, 2020 of the Field Crops Research Institute for the spring season.

2. Agronomic characteristics

– Growth duration (130-135 days in spring season; 110-115 days in winter season).

– Long-round tubers, red tuber skin, ivory-white tuber flesh.

– Fairly resistant to vine borer, leaf miner; good resistance to leaf curl and black rot.

– Fresh tuber yield (25.71 – 26.53 tons/ha), tuber dry matter content (32.70-34.56%), tuber starch content (22.2 – 22.48%).

– Eating quality: friability (score 1), sweetness (score 3).
