- Origin
– DR5 was selected from a combination of 27/Red DR70
– The variety was introduced into production according to the Document No. 124/VCLT-KH dated April 12, 2023 of the Field Crops Research Institute for the Northern provinces.

- Agronomic characteristics
– Growth duration (255-295 days), good growth and development, long oval tubers, purple-pink tuber skin, white tuber flesh.
– High uniformity (score 7-9), plant height (155-170 cm), number of stems/clump (10.9-13.0 stems), number of leaves/ stem (10.0 – 10.3 leaves).
– Medium lodging resistance (score 3-5), medium resistance to leaf blight (score 5).
– Tuber yield (71-74 tons/ha), starch content (17.4%), moist starch content (27.6%), suitable for starch processing.
