RICE VARIETY P6

1. Origin

Authors: Vu Tuyen Hoang, Nguyen Trong Khanh, Truong Van Kinh et al. –  Conventional Rice Research and Development Center – FCRI

– P6 was bred from IR2588/Xuan so 2. It was certified as national variety according to Decision No. 5218 BNN-KHCN/QĐ date 16/11/2000.

2. Major morphology and varietal characteristics

– Growth duration: 140-145 days in Spring season, 115 – 120 days in Summer season.

– Plant height 85-90 cm, compact shape, erect leaves, high tillering.
– High grain quality, amylose content 21%, grain protein content 10.5%, soft cooked rice, L/W >3.

– Average yield 6.7 tons/ha in Spring, 6.0 tons/ha in Summer season.
– it can grow in intensive cultivation, resists to BPH, sheath blight, blast
