RICE VARIETY P290

1. Origin

P290 was bred from DC1/IR24. It’s temporarily recognized by Decision No. 3277 QĐ/BNN-KHCN date 23/11/2005

2. Major morphology and varietal characteristics

– Growth duration: 130 -135 days

– Plant height: 90-100 cm, erect and green leaves

– Panicle length 27-28 cm, grain length 6.8mm, W/L>3, spikelets/panicle: 140-150, 1000 grain weight 24-25g, upon cooking, the texture is firm and tender without splitting, and it is non-sticky

– Average yield: 5.5 -5.6tons/ha

– P290 can resist to brown plant hopper, mild infected by Sheath blight. It tolerates to cold and falling
