SWEET POTATO VC7

  1. Origin

– VC7 was selected from a combination of 194555.7/KLC19, using primer IbY47 to identify high starch content trait.

– The variety was introduced into production according to the Document No. 377/QD-VCLT-KH dated November 20, 2020 of the Field Crops Research Institute and notice of acceptance No. 1558/TB-TT-CLT dated December 22, 2020 from the Department of Crop Production, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

  1. Agronomic characteristics

– Growth duration (130 – 140 days in spring season; 110-115 days in winter season).

– Elongated tuber, red tuber skin, light yellow flesh.

– Fresh tuber yield (25.3-26.7 tons/ha), tuber dry matter content (33.2-36.8%), tuber starch content (22.7-23.56%).

– Fairly resistant to vine borders, weevils; good resistance to leaf curl and black rot.

– Eating quality: friability (score 1), sweetness (score 2-3).
